The second challenge takes Tova and Jeff to Marin, for Jeff’s grandfather’s ninetieth birthday bash. The party is in the backyard, a one acre clearing amid ancient redwood trees. The premises are wired for video and audio, and Umber is on location. He crouches in the bushes at the foot of the redwoods, binoculars trained on the backyard entrance. Tova finds a bathroom, runs the water and dials Renee. Jeff’s ex had previously reassured Tova that she loves Jeff as a friend but would rather die than have him back, she wasn’t sexually attracted to him in the first place, wants nothing to do with cuckolding and will do whatever must be done to keep Cucktopia working. Tova exits the bathroom, and the two ladies who spilled wine on themselves in the kitchen, Jeff’s aunts, ambush Tova…and hug her, despite the wine stains. “Dear, we just heard from your sister, Rachel. She set us straight. We’re so sorry we shunned you. We had no idea your poor mother has dementia. It won’t happen again. From now on, anyone Jeff loves is someone we love. Have a glass of wine with us.
